Wonder what they would do if all the taxpayers decided to wait until April 30th to pay their taxes?

The IRS is a scam that exists because of intimidation and fear.

I'm not included in that list of delays, so it doesn't matter much to me. However, I'm of a mind that if you're counting on tax refund money to finance some purchase, then you really shouldn't be making that purchase anyway (seen a few that got in trouble when they didn't get much in their refund- including one that still owes me several months rent). Or you should be revisiting your exemptions so as to deal with that money yourself.
I usually get a sizable refund and could certainly stand to withhold less, but I also like having that buffer to cover any untaxed money I make through performance/choreography gigs.

(edited to correct misspelling- perFROmance?)

Reason I have to wait is the college tuition credit. And I am not relying on it for a purchase. I don't claim any exemptions and pay all the taxes all year long. I have enough money in savings right now not counting my emergency fund to pay for the swap, but would rather wait til I have a few extra grand from the refund.

Didn't mean for that to sound so directed at you- sorry, though your comment did spark mine. I'm just tired of hearing people complain about taxes and refunds (or lack thereof).

I think everyone should set up their taxes to where they come out even. they don't get anything back but they don't owe anything either. (Usually much easier for those who work for someone else.) The IRS never would issue us an interest free loan, why should we give them one?

Because as military, I really don't have much of a choice. I have to pay SOMETHING to them.

This.

Most people I know hear that I owe like $20 in taxes and are like, "You need to withhold more! I got like $2k!"

No, you freaking tard. You're giving the government an interest free loan. Then when they go to give it back, they still don't give it all to you.

I also know those who do it so they CAN'T spend the extra money until the return comes back. How about you learn to control yourself?
