I'm getting close to $1,000 and I need to buy a timing belt kit. I think I might go for the UD crank pulley/OD water pump pulley with the money that's left.

I have a few questions though. The UD crank pulley will "underdrive" my alternator, correct? Which means I will get less output from it? I have a system in my car, nothing crazy I don't remember the wattage off the top of my head. But with that consuming power, and my lights all turned on, my car seems to bog down a little...the RPMs drop with electrical load, the more the load the more they go down. So if I'm operating my windows with my radio on, my head lights, fogs, and interior lights on, it will drop down to about 400 and the lights will all dim.

What would cause this? And I'm also wondering would the UD pulley be a bad idea from this?

Also, who here has this UD crank pulley. Is it worth the money? Could you notice a big difference?

Thanks guys!!!

Yeah the pulley is at fault so replace it with the OEM.

What? I don't get it.

Wait....weren't you the guy that was trying to say JWT intakes don't have any positive effects?

Trust me all you get in return is sound all else is a negative effect.

I just have the UD Pulley installed and I haven't really noticed a difference with wattage and the temp stays at a good operating temp. Although if you have a bit of a bigger sound system maybe a full kit may be the way to go just to play it safe.

With the extra money you might think about looking into suspension work instead of power.

I have pretty much every bolt on for the N/A and while it is pretty fast its not TT fast lol.

Did you notice a difference with the pulley? I hear it helps throttle response...but what about acceleration any improvements there?

I might just get some struts/lowering springs. I think my back shocks are going bad on me anyways.

I bought the full AMS pulley set and yes, I noticed a difference and it was worth it. NA. Not a BIG difference, but it was definitely better than before. My first impression was that the car felt lighter (obviously not because it actually shed a few pounds, but because it shed pounds in the right spot and performed better, making it feel like there was less holding it back therefore feeling lighter).

i think it will only make a difference if you just sit and let your car idle all the time. if your driving your battery should have enough juice

^^^ Good point I'm gonna go for it. After that comes, struts/springs, rear sway bar, and wheels!

If you haven't done it yet, go for pop intake, cat back exhaust (since you're in NC, you could also go with headers and test pipes), and an ECU. You will get more from those options than an UD. A motor is basically an air pump. The better you pump air through it, the better you make power...

YOU can, because every Z car I get to inspect passes as long as the wheels aren't falling off

DISCLAIMER -- Dear DMV, you know I am just kidding. I would never illegally pass a vehicle...that is such a terrible terrible thing to do. People who have 10% window tint and straight pipes deserve to be crucified.

wow, if you are really running that much of an electrical load on the car I would suggest two upgrades.1. A better battery (Interstate is good stuff)2. Taking your alternator and having it rebuilt with a higher output of maybe 100amps+. Stock TT is 90 amps, NA is 80amps I think.

Running heavy electrical loads will be bad for your engine performance also and can create weak spark along with causing power drain of other components. Your fuel injectors, MAF, TPS, Fuel pump, etc all need power to function at their best.

It does have a pretty cheap looking battery in it. I should probably upgrade that to an interstate or optima.

Also, how can I rebuild my alternator? I think when I'm doing my timing belt would be the opportune moment for that because I know it's hard to reach
