Hey guys, I want to know if any of you or any one you have heard of, has ever done a targa top install in there 240? I have a 90 coupe and I think that would be an ausum install. I know that it would make the car not as still, but they make the 240 in convertable so maybe it is still strong enough??? Well that is my question. I want your guys imput. I think that they even make custon kits to install them. I left a message at my cousins house. He's a body man and he would knwo I think. But he hasn't got back to me yet.

Never seen it done...however the convertibles are notoriously less stable than hard tops, this is true for almost any convertible. Some kid near me chopped his top, and at high speeds the windsheild would actually flap in the breeze, very scary...

If you're gonna use the car for show, go for it, but otherwise thats a lot of money to make your car a lot less stiff.

not a 240, but the same physics will apply....if you want a drop top 240...buy one, but even these are less stable than one with a roof. If you make it a targa, it will be less stable, I'd think alot, but I don't know....plus there may be some way to reinforce it....

if you are looking for the open air effect, but are worried about the stiffness of your ride, maybe you could do t-tops with a strong brace in the center. I imagine it would cost a lot of money either way. IMO you should just get a custom sunroof- not too hard to install and little or no loss in rigidity. <-- is that a word?

brett90 hatchbought it for a dollarruns like a champ190,000 miles. rigidity

Everyone I've ever known (including myself) that's ever owned a convertible or a car with T-Tops with over 100k miles on it has had problems with leaks, frame distortion, the t-tops flying off (alright, so maybe that's human error  ), or some other weird problem as a result. IMNSHO, don't buy a convertible or t-top unless all the models are engineered that way (someday I'll own a Lotus . . . someday, you all and see! ahahaah :alcoholic ). The one person I know that's had a good experience was one of my co-workers who owned a Z31 NA w/ t-tops.

Targa tops will probably run you between $750 and $1500us for a good quality install.
