With T-tops such bracing wouldn't be needed at all. The main structural brace for the roof section runs longitudinally down the center of the car, which would be preserved in order to mount the T-tops. Removing that side material is simply some sheet metal and insulation. No one said a strut tower bar would do it, in fact anyone using logic would deem that such wouldn't change the geometry of that section of the car in an case. A six-point roll cage would be completely unnecessary.
In the case of a targa top, a two point roll bar would be all that is necessary to strengthen the chassis horizontally. If I were REALLY to get into this, I'd get some full specs on a convertible 240 and attempt to copy exactly all the bracing they did to keep it from flexing like a son-of-a-gun, then do the appropriate other things like STBs, ladder bars, bigger sway bars, a four point cage, etc, to keep it from flexing at all.
