TAPPING NOISE

I am having a problem with a tapping noise under the valve cover near the firewall on the intake side. The problem seamed to get worse and worse until the car would just not idle correctly. I am not sure if the engine jumped time and bent a valve or not. If anyone has any input I would greatly appericate it.

sounds like rod knock, did the tapping sound at around 2k-3k and was loud?

a compression test will let you know if you have a bent valve... anyway sounds like your engine is dead

You know, I noticed the same type of tapping under the valve cover when I bought my 240 just 3 months ago...runs fine, and the sound is best heard at 2~3k rpm. I suppose it will die soon...
