Im putting in some aux lights and I want them to automatically turn on when I hit the high beams, and off when the high beams go off.

I do have them relayed, and I do have them switched so they arent all the time my high beams are on. I need to find a reasonably easy place I can trigger the relay for them when I hit the high beams. the wiring harness to the lights is pretty well buried. Any tips appreciated!

What year is your car? My 2013 sedan has mechanical shutters that move inside the headlamps to change from low-beams to high. Same bulb, just a different reflecting angle. It also has a relay and two fuses on the IPDM (#54 & 55) which power these high-beam "solenoids". You may be able to tap off at that point if you are just powering a relay.

I think it does. '09 sedan service manuals are here:

"EXL.pdf" (Exterior Lighting) is the book you want.

Update: With the help of the previous post, I found the trigger wire in the harness. I tapped off that to run my relay and now its perfect. I took it off the drivers side, where the harness is easily accessible from under the hood. I carefully cut open the loom, and it was the heavy purple wire. Works perfectly.
Thanks guys
