I drove my 2008 SL AWD 3.6mi. with 62.5k mi. to work today without any issues and the vehicle operated as usual. I left work at 5:30PM and backed out of my parking spot, only to realize I had to run back in to grab something. So I back around and pull in to another spot. I leave the car running while I run in real quick, I then back out and start driving. I noticed that there is now an odd (not good) sound and something generally doesn't seem right when I accelerate. With my hand on the shifter, I am now feeling a tapping sensation. At the next stoplight, I shifted to park, then back to drive hoping it would go away. It didn't and I went ahead and drove the full 3.6 miles back home as we have had a heavy rainfall here in North Carolina most of the afternoon and evening.
I've read a post where the owner had "a loose rubber boot that was hanging on the driveshaft" causing a noise and vibration (maybe tapping? sensation) on the gear shifter. (

I've long had the gurgling sound from my CVT and even had the TCM reprogrammed a while back which did help for a while, but returned within 5,000mi. I do have the Nissan Gold Preferred Security+ Extended Warranty and am still good for two more years/100k miles. I dread the trip to the dealership and the scary lecture about the potential diagnostic fees I may be responsible for if they don't find anything that will be covered by the warranty blah, blah, blah.
Any guidance or information would be greatly appreciated
