I recently swapped cams in my 1990 Nissan 240sx to Gabe's GB4 cam. She runs/drives fine, but around 2200rpm tapping occurs within the head. I originally thought it was the lash adjusters so I took them apart and cleaned them/reassembled them. When they were apart I noticed marks on the bottom of the rocker arms indicating contact with the top of the valve spring. My thinking is the tapping is coming from this contact. It only occurs on the exhaust side. I had the cam towers milled .025 as called for but never double checked the machine shops work before I put everything back together. I was just wondering if you guys could shed any light upon my situation.

Yeah man it's been a while.. It's crazy I've been so busy with work and school

Everything's great other than that..

I really dont think its the lifters bleeding off air.. unless they sound like metal tapping together loudly. That, and there is no clearance between the rocker arms and the top of the valve springs when the valves are closed

did you pull the v/c and check with your fingers for them to be stiff,if you can collapse a rocker(with a finger) then that one has air,and needs to bleed off.

All I know is the first time I heard lifter noise I almost shat myself, thinking my motor was gone.

I'm done wit this **** bro

I mean its ghey as fizzuck. To have a spun rod bearing on a 52mile engine.

I was going to buy some coils, so I'm taking that money and adding to it for a few more weeks to get an engine.

I'm gonna drop a CA in her and never look back

I hate to see you let this thing go,but a ca will always make your go mojo happy, unlike the ka,a lot of dispare comes with ka builds it seems... I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed tho. Good luck with the ca(175ish stock is good starting place anyways)

what you gonna do with the ka? part out to fund new ca? dibs on header! or something damn it seriously email me so we can talk...
