tape player comes up with error message...sometimes plays 97/ q45

I have a 97/ q45, in excellent condition, however the tape player, works sometime and other times comes up "error" then it will take in the tape and eject continuesly. Does anyone know what is wrong, and what can I do about it. The CD works fine, only I don't know how many CD's it will take.

I am just amazed you own a cassette tape at all anymore, I threw all mine in the trash 5 years ago, I have NEVER put one in my Q and don't own one to test for you.................time to throw your tapes out and buy CDs
