If any of you have ever played Test Drive Unlimited, they have a little track modeled off of Hawaii's very own Tantalus Dr.

But, they did it wrong....VERY wrong.

Here's is a video of it in Test Drive Unlimited:YouTube - Test Drive Unlimited - Tantalus

The main thing they got wrong is the wideness of the road. The real tantalus is a 1 and a half lane wide, 2 way road. There are no shoulders with the exception of the occasional look out points.

Here is my Altima making a run on Tantalus. This isn't a speed run for obvious reasons (other traffic, pedestrians, pot holes, residents going in and out of their houses).part 1YouTube - Tantalus (Altima 2.5 with nismo exhaust)part 2YouTube - Tantalus Part 2 (Altima 2.5 with nismo exhaust)

Just so no one complains, here is a clean shot of Diamond Head since my camera isn't good enough to focus on a distanced background and a foreground object at the same time. (Yes, a couple of these have been posted in my other thread, but I thought I'd post them again since no one really knew where it was.

Oh and on the way home from that run, I attempted to get another sound clip of my exhaust.YouTube - Nismo catback Altima 2.5 freeway

Yes that is a white ricer integra. It thought I was racing when I downshifted behind him. He took off with his bumble bee exhaust and started weaving in and out of traffic like a douche. You can actually hear his exhaust a little in that clip (over mine!!) if you listen carefully.

Those are SE-R tails. They are dark chrome, not matte black. Under certain lighting, it will appear lighter.

Haha I knew I saw you today. I was visiting my old firehouse near your house, and I saw you pulling out of the driveway. You live right behind the football field at Moanalua, don't you? I think it was about 3:15 pm and you had a girl in your passenger seat, whom I'm assuming was your gf. Did you see me driving right by you heading up the hill to the freeway? You shot out of your driveway and went into the little side street by Greenwood.

Anyways, nice shots. I haven't been up there in the longest time. I didn't even know that they reopened the place.

Haha, I didn't see you but yeah, that was me. My gf lives behind the football field, I just picked her up and I was heading to greenwood to pickup my friend. We were going to the auto show

kuhan: my dad (although he's chinese) lived in vietnam in his teens. He actually chose to move to Hawaii because the weather is extremely similar. I just never thought I'd hear someone else saying that haha.

oh that's cool. I've heard so many good things about Hawaii. The weather up here in Chicago, IL is dreadful (25 degF today). It makes me wanting to move down south more and more. snow and salt causing so many potholes. I probably can't put my 19" rims back on may until May. Waiting for the city to cover up the potholes. We have so much snow this year.

Its not all fun and games here. All we have is weather. You'd be surprised how little time it takes for us to run out of things to do here. Also, traffic is a nightmare almost all the time. As for pot holes, don't even get me started on those. Our roads are basically made of pot holes. I remember one pot hole on the freeway that was nick named "the rim buster". It had to destroy over a dozen rims in order for the city to do anything about it.

Also, state funds are being spent by idiots and the road laws here are basically anti modification.

In addition to that, land prices are off the charts, jobs are getting really limited, our ground water supply is going to run dry in the next couple decades, and the cost of living is increasing by the second.

I want to get the hell out of here.

wow. and i thought that you guys are living a paradise place. It is not so bad up here, besides windy and cold weather in the winter time. Also we probably have one of the highest tax rate of 10.5% in the country. Gasoline price is on the rise to surpass $5 per gal by the summer. But I know these don't come even close to what you guys are paying there.

actually, our gas prices aren't too bad. we're currently in the 3.50 area. we'll be hitting $4 in the summer.

the 87 GT-S is an AE86.The AE86 was also known as the Hachi-Roku

The Hachi-Roku is prominently featured by manga artist Shuichi Shigeno in the manga/anime series Initial D. A panda paint-schemed Trueno with a tofu shop signage on its driver's side door is driven by lead character Takumi Fujiwara.

INITIAL D FTW!
