They are pretty expensive from what I have seen. The cheapest set I saw was for $1,500. I just don't see alot of people buying them.

Actually, they're only 1100$ and 250$ for the optional pillow mount:

s13 Tanabe Sustec Pro SS

s14 Tanabe Sustec Pro SS

The spring rates are 6.0k front and 4.0k rear. Internally they are KYB AGX's, aka GAB's....

They do come with helper springs, so they are much more streetable/comfortable than conventional coilovers....

I'd prefer the sustec-DD's for drifting though:

Tanabe Sustec Pro DD

They're the coilovers that the drifter-twin's use...they were custom made by signal auto just for drifting....

Does anyone actually run these things? Is there anyone that can give a first hands experience on it?

the SS and S-0c are marketed as 6/4 spring rates, but Tanabeis offering an 8/6 as a standrad option (no extra charge, you just have to tell the retailer to get it from tanabe)...you can get the type IIs are a lower price w/o helper springs.
