Tanabe springs settling?

Hey guys and gals,

I have been having a tough time with these tanabe springs. It seems that they are taking a while to settle in or something. Every time I turn I get a "dink dink thunk" noise coming from the suspension. I put the Tanabe NF 210 springs on a few months ago. Has anyone else had this issue?

I am wondering if the strut mounts might need to be replaced or something? But I notice it mostly when turning.

A second item is greasing the bushings on this car? We have had unusually large amounts of rain in the last few months and I think the rain has washed the grease out of the bushings. Any recommendations on what to use?

Thanks

I think you didn't install the rubber........or you didn't install right....it shouldn't be any problem with Tanabe springs...

yeah i agree with what they are saying because the only settling i got from the sprigns was that t lowered just a tad bit more as time went by, but thats normal for springs. just adds more COOLNESS to it. so either you forgot the bushings or something, OR maybe not compressed right?

I really wish I knew what bushings you are talking about. I didnt see anyting on the strut between the spring percha nd the spring but then again it might be up top where the noise is coming from. I notice the noise mostly after driving on wet roads. It really sounds bad. Like the spring is twisting out of its groove and then pops back into place. I am going to see about breaking the strut tower apart again this coming week.

But on another note...Do you guys have problems with squeaky bushings on this car? We have had a bunch of rain over the last 2 months and it sounds like I am driving a really old car or that I have dried out urethane bushings on the car. I was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation as to what to use to grease the bushings with. White grease? Silicone based ? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Okay, so I got home after work last night and I broke apart the strut tower on the passenger side. It seems that the rubber that you guys are referring to was actually integrated into the stock spring to eliminate the clunk noise I was hearing. It looked like the top of the spring was dipped in liquid silicone or something to coat it. The Tanabe springs dont have this coating at the top or the bottom. When the drop spring is on the car there is about 1/8" of rotational play on the spring itself. So when the wheels are turned in either direction the spring will bind in place to a certain point and then will eventually let go causing the spring to rotate in the bearing at the top and cause the clunk noise. It doesn't look like this would cause any damage or anything and it is definitley louder inside the car than out. Just more of an irritation I guess. I guess when I have more time to mess with it, I will get a rubber filler of some sort fabbed up to eliminate the noise. I will let you know what I find.
