Aight guys as you may know im in search of another car once i sell my s14 automatic, but anyways. Now im stuck on what car do get either a eagle talon tsi awd or just get a 5spd s14 & turbo the sucker. Now of course i dont know what do do the s14 is rwd and at low boost can make pretty good hp i only want about 300hp, but it will cost me about $3000 for a ka turbo setup considering i look around my self instead of buying a turbo kit, but i would need to rebuild to get to 300hp from what i hear, Now as for the tsi i can easily get 300hp for 3000 which is a boostcontroler,exhaust,intake pipe/filter,fuel pump,fmic piping. Well thats a little under 3000 but hey i lied. The stock turbo on the tsi is good for 350hp i beleive and i think there pretty good cars plus awd. But i still have love for the 240sx which is a great car. So im a little stuck here either i can have a fast car for cheap or i can have a fast car for more money, but is harder to find.

Someone give me some opinions on what to do, i like both cars but dont know what to do.

Do you live in the snow belt where AWD would help? If not, I would stay with the 240. Turbo it and then do a 5spd swap later.

auto = hole shot

my biggest problem with the dsm is the crappy valve sleeve(I think that's what they're called...) are made of copper I believe as opposed to aluminum like the block and both will expand and contract at different temps and eventually the sleeve will drop and cause the motor to smoke like Keith Richards. It is however a simple fix at a head shop apparently.

only thing to worry about on DSM's is the timing/balance belts, and the transmission. other than that... you can refer to the videos of my car for what can be done for WELL UNDER $3000 on a DSM...

AWD is not only for poor weather conditions. it handles great and has phenomenal hole shot if you learn how to do it properly. Also, if you vacation where it might snow or have adverse weather conditions, it is handy not to have to put on chains ;-p

gsxtasee,Agreed, AWD is great for handling and is not only for poor weather conditions. I was thinking more about the parasitic loose of power from the crank through the drive train. If he wants to set it up as a drag car, AWD may not be the way to go. I guess it depends on what he wants to do.

With DSMs there is years of literature and know how on making the 4g63 go fast and perform. Not to mention parts companies. Not that the 240SX/Silvia does not have the same lit, know how and parts.

Personally if you want affordable boost, go with a 1g dsm. They are cheap and easy to find. Parts are availible everywhere and can handle 25 psi on a stock block.

yup, http://www.vfaq.com is a very valuable resource in the DSM community. as for the parasitic loss through the drive train, it will not be a factor to be concerned with unless you are comparing it with a pretty dedicated drag car. I have a friend who's honda civic SI turbo-squeeze is only marginally quicker than my Gvr4 when he's on slicks and I'm on street tires, and that was with me still mostly stock with a small turbo...

if you wanna do str8 line go fast cheap and can work on your own car with reasonable competency, 1g DSM's are VERY hard to beat; import or domestic...

Honestly speaking, when I finish the engine on my galant, I don't wanna race it against my Skyline (when It gets here).. it would be too depressing in a weird sorta way....
