well, bad luck has struck once again... last friday the fricking 13th my car breaks, come to find out it needs a new clutch, flywheel, and synchros; damnit #1. my car was sitting in the shop, so i was driving my parents audi with rims and "bling" all over, which sticks out in traffic like a sore thumb. i am on my way home from my guys house, and accelerate with the rest of traffic down a busy road. next thing i know, lights are flashing behind me. 55 in a 45; damnit #2. 5 days later, i find myself once again driving my parents audi on the way home from the real street drags in union grove, wi. i was on highway 43 going pretty damn fast, and i see a cop facing the other way in the u-turn lane; damnit #3. i am in the right lane, and he reverses and backs into the left lane; damnit #4. i was clocked at 92 in a 65; damnit #5. needless to say this hasnt been a very good week. since im 16 and my 240 is in my parents name, it is officially taken away until october; damnit # 6. im so bummed about my car and the fact that i am now waist deep in ticket and court debt. btw, i have a manditory court appearance next month for the second ticket, where the judge can either raise or lower my predicted bond of $290. add that to the cost of my transmission stuff and first ticket and there goes my bank account. i guess my project is really delayed now :(

92 in a 65 seems a little excessive to me. Other than your car everything else could've been avoided. Bad luck or just plain stupidity?

my best friend got stopped driving his parents caddy. it has that big beefy 32valve engine (north something) he was ****ing around with a beemer, only a 3 series, and the beermer ran a light. the light turned green, and he got paced, YES PACED, doing 95mph in a 55mph on route234...

the worst part was, he got stopped by a DMV AGENT, it wasn't even a cop. he had one blue light...

Anywho, I will give you some advice I have because I just went to court for reckless driving, and I'm 17. I got pulled over for racing a tiburon down us1. Basically, as long as you're not clocked and you don't admit crap to the cop, they can't prove anything. Don't be intimidated when they threaten to take you to court if you don't admit to speeding. I went to court for it, and thankfully the cop didn't charge me with racing (impound, +6 points, or something crazy, loss of license) and all he could prove was I switched lanes without a turn signal. I got off with improper and now I have to take driving school.

My advice is to fight both of them, when you go to your hearing you will get a ruling right there if you plead not guilty or no-contest. If you go to trial, you can get a free court-appointed attorney, and at worst you will be found guilty anyways. As far as the highway, it is always hard to argue about moving with the flow of traffic, but you can always suggest since you are young and you were driving a car that sticks out you were discriminated against... Things like that are rough to fight, but it never hurts.

One last tip, I've been pulled over 5 times, and I've gotten a ticket once. I've been clocked by LDAR or whatever at 17mph over, and drove away without a ticket. This is my advice: When you get stopped, KISS BUTT! everyone does this, but seriously add sir to everything you say. Offer him your registration, don't let him ask for it. If he tries to get you to admit to something, especially if hes just going by rule of thumb, don't. Deny it completley, but don't be an *** about it, that will piss him off.

Also, a good story will get you out. Me and my friend in his mustang were cruising, and he calls me and is like OMFG a bunch of hot girls in the van behind us! So I slow down, get behind my friend, the girls all smile and wave at me then pass my friend, and I cut him off. Badly. But its allright he doesnt care. The girls go to turn, so I do too, and bam. State trooper lights. I just basically told her that I'm not familar with the area, its dark out, and my friend went through a light I got stuck at. I was in the wrong, and instead of trying to catch up to him, I should have pulled over and called. Also, I offered her my registration, and she was like: DID I ASK FOR IT? which kinda shows shes retarded so now she cant really ask for it, and prolly means you'll drive away.

And sorry for the uber long post, but the last thing is: when they run your licensce (at least in VA) i'm told it doesnt show how many times its been run already. So if you get stopped 20 times, just play it off like it's your first. Mr. piggy wont know the difference anyways.

thanks sci0n, but they got me with lazer at 1400 feet away, no fighting that. my story is just like you suggested. i was following a friend home and had no clue where i was, and my passenger had to go to the bathroom. i tried calling the car ahead, but my cell phone and my passengers cell phones were out of service. we had to pull over, and in order for me to make it home i needed to catch up with the first car. that seems like a legit and hopefully believable story. hopefully.

come on man, why are you speeding so much after getting multiple tickets? You win the Lotto or something? Damn I'm not one to talk, but you're not only endangering yourself but other people. You figured you'd learn after the first few tickets. Just plain dumb man. Come on, what are you some high school punk?

actually yeah. i am in highschool, and i dont need someone like you to give me a fricking lecture. with all the performance parts people put on thier cars, you cant tell me that 99% of the people on these forums havent gone way faster than 92. unless you have something to say besides "just plain dumb man", please keep your mouth shut. if you would have actually paid attention to the post, i was only speeding after 1 ticket, not multiple. i did learn my lesson, but i cannot honestly say that im not going to speed.

btw, endangering other people was not an issue whatsoever, because 43 is just about the most un-crowded highway around, especially at 1 in the morning.

Still have to deal with my current ticket. Mandatory Court date, but I get to write aletter instead being I'm 17 and 900miles away. Hopefully the judge will give me a break. I was supposedly going 82 in a 60. The speed limit changed so many times in 10 miles, I WAS lost took a wrong turn trying to get home to Florida. Was in Chesterfield VA. State trooper came after me and I was going 75 when i saw him and my speedometer is off so i was going like 73 or 72. Did I forget to mention I was in the slow lane and cars where flying pass me and cutting me off. State trooper I'm 17 I'm out of state wouldn't you be intimidated. So didn't argue with him and he was a real *** to me. Had no F***ing clue where I was at. Knew I was screwed when he came walking up and ran his hand down the side of my car. Still got a month to deal with it. Wondering if the judge will drop the charges though if i show. Why would i drive 900miles if i knew i was guilty right?

Yes, we all have had our little car incidents. I've been stopped 5 times, got charged with reckless (thankfully it dropped down to improper) and in all honesty... I still speed. I'm not agressive about it, but I just drive, if there is a gap, I take it, if there is a long stretch that's open, I gun it. I do what I want. It is my choice, I know what the speed limit is, and I choose to break that law and suffer the consequences.

People make speeding out to be some god forsaken thing. This happened to me tonight on the highway, I was with my girlfriend on I-95 heading towards the mall. It wasn't dead, but there wasn't much traffic either. I knew she wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going, so I looked, and I was doing 97mph. I covered the speedometer and asked her how fast she thought I was going. She said, idk, around 70mph? Bam. 97mph. She was just shocked, of course she said slow down. But people just make anything above 90mph like some thing where you hit warp space and travel through time. I can't feel a difference in 80mph vs 100mph, let alone distinctivley tell by the area around me.

Now if only my damn govenor didn't kick in at 105 :(

Tickets come in sprees. It's a weird rule of the road. If you are driving like you shouldn't be, and continue to drive like you shouldn't, it will all come down on you eventually. At least, I'd say with a good 73% probability. =)

At this point, you either get a lawyer which costs griploads of cash, or you throw yourself at the mercy of the court. You can go to traffic school for one of them. In most states, the judge has the ability to reduce and / or dismiss the offense. You should try to get both of the tickets before the judge at the same time. The courts like it when you reduce the number of times that they have to see you. Tell them that you admit you were speeding on the highway which was stupid, and you want to go to traffic school for it. Explain that with the 55 in a 45, you weren't driving erratically, you were in control of the car and accelerating so that you could get out of the way of a tailgater, you know you shouldn't have done it, and ask them to reduce the offense to something with a lesser point count.

If you get a lawyer, you'll pay griploads of cash but they'll find out where the cops screwed up in giving you the ticket. There are all sorts of laws that normal people don't know about. Like in certain parts of CA, they have to do "traffic studies" every 6 years or something. And if you're pulled over on a road that hasn't had a traffic flow study done recently enough, the cops aren't allowed to write you a ticket, and if they do, the ticket is invalid. That's just one example, but there are literally dozens of random loopholes like that in the vehicle code.

i have excellent news that makes my day :D my mom called a longtime friend who happens to be a lwayer, and the first ticket is being dropped to a non-moving violation, $55 and not on my record. the second ticket is being downgraded to either a regualar speeding ticket Or possibly a nonmoving vioation also. remember, its not what you know, its who you know ;D

1400 feet, thats a bit of a distance isnt it?? fight it and say the radar couldve been reading multiple cars because if it was sunny, the light from the sun WILL reflect bits of the radar beam (im fighting a radar case right now, it wass my 102 ina 70.....) but weather conditions can help against ur fight. and plz dont go that fast again, god knows i havent, i havent done but 20 over and that was ona highway... ive been saving it all for the track...

I didn't have enough money for a lawyer and my mom has always said if I get stuck in something I have to get out. I like the fact how you pay 300 dollars to get someone who goes and talks to his friend who happens to be the prosecuting attorney, because all lawyers are ***holes and know each other anyways, and after catching up with the prosecuting attorney for 2 hours about what hes done the past month, decides to charge you 600 dollars to tell you to plead guilty anyways. :D

dude, going fast is gonna get you tickets if you're not careful...here's what i do...i go fast in a careful way...dont just go flying down the highway for any old reason...do it during certain hours...late at night when it's empty, early in the month. if you're not sure, go slow, if the point is to go fast? take a slow run first to check for cops...dont jstu go blasting around the road for no reason. trust me i know...u wanna know what i got once? i had a cop testify that he saw me going 100+ (visual estimate) down a "residential road"...if you lived in my area you'd know that it wasnt a big deal. but in court, it is. he only clocked me at 19 over...going the other way, it was a laser speed trap and i was late for work...i was dropping my gf off in my 2 week old swapped 240...i was going fast cuz i knew i could...and yes i was going over 4x the speed limit, if he had been quicker to react, i'd be in jail

thats why i drift only, cause you dont need to race for any real reason. driving 120 mph is not going to get you there much faster than 75 or 80 unless you are on a long long trip.

I may get tickets for driving sideways, but you can always claim you lost control of the car or something.

reckless is also above 80mph OR 20mph above the posted...

i dont think you would get reckless as easily if you lost control vs it looked like you drifted on purpose.

and honestly, youre right, if the speed limit is like 35 an youre going a couple of miles through a residential or city, you really dont gain anything, especially like 10 minutes. on the highway though, i can say when i speed i do gain like 10 minutes, and mainly because i have to drive like 12 miles to work. not complaining about the distance, just actually save time by speeding that way. (sorry if that sounds really ignorant but see my other posts above)
