OK guys I got an RB25 in my S14 right now, but come next check or two Im getting an RB30 long block from a friend.

Im going to go fully built on it, with my RB25 head going on it after I pull the 25 out.

Now my question is, what all needs to be done to convert it DOHC? Do pulleys needs to be machined on the block or are the holes already there.

Also, what kinda belt will I need?

Hell, better yet, anybody got any good sites/etc?

So my question is now. What is it talking about when it says that:

VCT oil feed. RB30 don't have it but 25 block has it. external oil feed will fix that.

Can I ask a favor?

I am kind of curious how much more ab RB30 bottom end weighs in comparison to the 25/26. Is it possible once you remove the head to get a ballpark figure by weighing both?

Sadly yes. Don't forget to look at the Canadian forums too.

Is that just for the block and shipping? Or does that include shippers fees, custom clearance fees, warehouse fees, etc.

If thats the price with all the fees then you got a deal, if not, then it will most likely come to the same price as 1500

You at least have to change out the pistons. RB25 head on an RB30 with stock internals will have a super low compression ratio. Look up cdorhout's build thread and copy it verbatim! He even shows the external oil feed mod to the VTC. Good pics too.

I paid 640 shipped for my rb30 block it was a complete shortblock(pan, a/c compressor, powersteering pump, flywheel, etc.) After i paid all the shippers fees and customs stuff i had 1000 in it and lots of headache. I think someone on here was selling one for a 1000 if he still has it i would buy it and save yourself the trouble.

Sounds like you have a lot of reading to do. There's a dayco belt part number that fits perfectly but you have to relocate the tensioner. Also if you get one, make damn sure you get the one with the machined flat surface for stock idler location. I had to d!ck around with my machinist making a slanted spacer thing. I can post pics if you want.

RB25DE with RB30 block will yield an 8.3:1 compression ratio. Not great, but not too bad either. Put the boost to er ;) .

I paid $1600 CAD (picked it up) for an RB30 bottom end and RB25DE head. Rapage imho. As I'm balls deep in it now, I really wish I would have gone rb26 instead. So consider that. The consensus I'm gathering is that the RB26 can hold a lot more in stock trim than a RB30 stock bottom end. So you really need to build it to get the full benefit of the extra .4 L, which unless you're ballin, affects the old bank roll quite significantly. Thats my opinion anyway.
