My car started an ran for about 4-5 seconds a couple of times last week. But hasn't started since. I retested the compression and its pretty damn low (20psi)Was 180psi before I got the thing to start.

I heard some sound like a blow off valve coming from around the intake plenum. So I'm guessing the head gasket didnt seal right.

To top things off I was installing a 92 240 intake cam as the exhaust cam on my wifes 98 240sx, and snaped one of the bolts off for the last most thing that holds the cam down.

I have to get one of em running before work tomorrow!

Ok, I've got some advice for both of your problems.

First, on the bolt that you snapped off on the cam guide/bearing. Remove the bolt from the other side and pull the cam guide off. If you're lucky, it snapped above the threads on the head. If this is the case, get a pair of vise grips, lock 'em in on the bolt and turn it out. Most likely though, it snapped right at the head. In this case, if you are mechanically inclined, you can drill the remaining bolt out. To do this, find the center of the top of the broken stud and use a punch to mark it. Now, with a drill bit that is about a quarter of the size of the old bolt, place the end of the bit into the punch mark you made. Very carefully making sure that the drill is at the correct angle, drill into the stud. Only drill as deep as the stud goes. Now, you can either move up to little wider bit or go ahead and use just big enough to remove the stud (again don't go any deeper than the stud itself). Finally, tap threads into the hole you've made and find a strong bolt that will fit (lenght, width, and threads). If you aren't comfortable doing this, you can have a machine shop do it (it'll be much easier for them if you only give them the head). That said, I obviously don't accept responsibility for anything, I'm just here to provide what I know to help you out.

Of course, extractor kits and heli coils do exist, but I've never used either. Hopefully someone who has will chime in.

As for the other engine- Did you crank by hand before you attempted to start? If not, the timing may have been off and your pistons and valves collided. If it is a manifold leak, you already know the solution.

Hope that helps,Matt
