The motor and transmission aren't really that heavy. The block and heads are aluminum so there really isn't much weight to them.

The block should be the same as the one in your cobra, as should the heads and crank. I got my internals on ebay, it came with a ford racing crank (already balanced, rods (already weight matched, manley only sells them in 8 packs pre-weighed and matched), and the pistons are ford racing parts as well. I got everything for $1100 from a private seller.

Spent all evening with my brother pushing in polyurethane bushings into everything on the rear suspension. Its quite a pita.

The Q45 diff is in place as is most of the suspension gear. I cleaned up the subframe and all the stuff attached to it and got rid of the drum e brakes. I think we are going for a hydraulic e brake setup with a lockout for parking. I'm still waiting on the second axle, but the rest is ready to go.

I have a holset HX55 on the way, ebayed it for $130 shipped. If there is shaft play or seal leaks I will rebuild it.

The next order of business is exhaust, probably marauder exhaust manifolds or maybe stock mark viii ones. I'm not really sure yet. The entire exhaust will have to be 100% custom of course

Then will come the radiator, intercooling, and piping.

Oh yes, there are updates... as soon as I get around to charging my camera.

I decided to do a VGT style upgrade to the HX55 and weld a butterfly valve in one side of the exhaust housing. I'll connect it to a wastegate actuator set at 4-8 lbs to quickly spool the turbo before opening it up to keep the motor from choking. There will be the usual wastegate setup as well.

The rear suspension is done and installed. I'm thinking of making one of those track catz suspension things... anyone have an objection?

Its an SW cage. Cheap, but with a little work it seems to be fine.

For an update:

Radiator in!

My mig welds are getting goooooood

Q45 rear end/axles/spindles/hubs on 240sx subframe, full bushing set

Cage 90% done

interfooler?

sleeper...

The $70 intercooler fits... barely. needs a little more modification for the lights to go up and down

Needed to make a new crossmember because the radiator was too tall for the engine bay.

Details of whats going on down there.

Redneck VGT

VGT engage!

Big turbo chilling below its new home. Its going to be mounted in front of the front right wheel.

Still a lot more to be done, hopefully I'll be working on exhaust and intake plumbing soon.

I don't know that this is going to be much of a sleeper. I think the exhaust note may be a dead give-away. Looks awesome man. Keep it up!

Thanks!

We are probably ordering some megan coilovers tonight as well as some other suspension goodies, 5 lug fronts, and possibly big a** brake stuff.

As for the wheels, maybe some ebay FR500 wheels powdercoated a funky color?

The megan streets are on, I fabricated a hydraulic handbrake and it is in, reworking the intercooler placement so I can keep the stock headlights with motors, and just won a set of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

I can't wait to make brackets and get them on the car...

Got the brakes in today... they're HUGE!!!

Pic update will be tomorrow morning

I also calculated the piston area vs stock and it looks like the 7/8" master cylinder with those 6 pistons and q45 rear brakes on will yield about 70/30 front brake bias. This is within 3% of stock and pedal feel should be similar so I'm happy. They should haul the car down in a real hurry, especially with the wide sticky tires we're going to put on there.

Sorry guys, no pics. Camera is completely MIA.

I can tell you this: the mustang/wilwood rotors and calipers on the 240 hub somehow line up perfectly flush with the stock brake mounts on the spindle. I bought some 1/4" steel plate at lowes today to weld up some brackets tonight

The Teskid aluminum MKVIII blocks are decently strong but lack the Venolia forged cranks of the DOHC 96-03 Cobra mills. Also, the main bearing area isn't as beefy as their brethren. I've seen some pretty solid numbers out of a Teskid but nowhere near the iron Terminator blocks. Just stay under 600 and you should be fine.

If you haven't done so already, ditch the Lincoln intake manifold. It's garbage.

Actually, the bearings are the exact same size as the cobras and the cobra crank goes in fine. The crank I have is from a terminator, as are the rods and pistons.

I have heard of 1600 being the limit for the crank and 1300 for the teksid block.

I might be upgrading to cobra heads and intake here shortly.

Oh, and more goodies for you guys to drool over:

This thread in over flowing with win, just like the engine bay of that 240.

< has overwelming amounts of love for the twin cam 4.6 and has a hard on thinking about a turbo one in a 240
