i would like to ask some fellow nico members their opinions of what will make a good daily driver cause im indicisive, i am currently ruining my rb swapped 13 so sooner the better. im not biased against foor door cars or suvs and pick ups or diesels. i would however not mind having a vip lex or infinti. brand new hyundais seem to be very nice cars as well (sick warranties) and the new sonata is a 2 l turbo 4. also i like enthusiats cars (m3,wrx sti, evos) although id like to try and not be too flashy and draw negative attention from the law with my dd. i got around 10000 to spend and i would finance more if needed, i would like some serious suggestions, if you know of anything nice thats for sale now, hook me up with a link id appreciate it thanks all.

The new Sonata's world-class Fugly outweighs its world-class warranty.

the thing is with a daily, get something reliable and cheap cheap cheap.

save monies for another project. Or better yet, throw that RB away or use it for a paperweight and build an SR

All i can see this thread being is a list of cars that we would want, seeing as your criteria is has 4 wheels and around 10 grand. If you could narrow it down at all it would get you some more specific suggestions.

Do you need to haul around family or friends?Do you care about gas mileage?manual or auto preference?

without any input you are going to get anything from miatas to mini vans thrown out there.

Im the type that doesnt need a great daily. I have fast car, I have a baller car, and I dont like to drive either of them without a purpose. I just picked up an 87 Bronco II 4x4 grinder for 200 bucks. Its lifted with mud tires on it, get 20 mpg and it will run forever. And it serves a purpose as well as far as an off road machine. Like I said, I would save most of the money for other things (motor swap in the S13) haha.

Any kind of volvo. I'd recommend an S80, post 1999, or an s40. The 99' S80 had all kinds of electrical issues, as well as a weak trans. Probably a 2004 s80, s60, or s40 would be a perfect DD. I'd LOVE to have an s40. Get the turbo, it packs quite a punch.

Just a note: the '03 model was the same as the '02. Wasn't redesigned until '04. I would personally take an '04-'06 over an '02/'03 as it's a much more refined car, but that's just me.

Also, FWIW I love my LS to death. One of the best automatics I've had to tolerate (that's the best you'll ever hear my say about an auto)...it's very well paired to the car's torque curve. The seats are very comfortable, the ride/handling balance is great. The combination of power and fuel economy is pretty damn good (22 combined/29 highway, 14.7 1/4 with the V8). The car looks and sounds great. The leather is supple. There are some goofy issues like climate control, power steering, etc. but none of them are particularly expensive. Just don't bother with any pre-2003 models as the improvements for 2003 were too numerous to count. The car also only weighs in at 3700lb despite being on the big side thanks to extensive use of aluminum (hood, fenders, trunk lid).

Thats a pretty stupid thing to say. I know many a Volvo that perform wonderfully, while being civilized. People that think they're strictly, "old people cars" are stupid. And this coming from a guy that drives his mom's "soccer mom car".

As far as the tuner cars you listed (because, lets face it, the other criteria really don't narrow things down much) the e36 M3 sedan is about as under the radar as you can get when it comes to police.

Or a plain ol' bugeye WRX might be a good option. Of course this is assuming you like something with a bit of pep for a daily.

Both are good options IMO and here's why. The e36 doesn't gain much from engine mods until you add boost so it's really not worthwhile to fiddle with much (the exhaust note is pretty though...). On the other hand the WRX has a weak transmission (from everything I've read on the subject) and so turning up the boost isn't much of an option. Either way the only real temptation you'll have without getting into large drivetrain changes is modifying the suspension

If you really want to keep yourself from fiddling with things get an automatic.

I really like these twoInfiniti I35$8k-$11kVQ35DE, 255hp

Acura 3.2 TL or TL Type-S (2001-2003)$10k-$12k225hp or 260hp

Not sure on the Infiniti, but I have test driven several of the TLs. Super smooth ride, tons of pick-up, and looks flashy but understated. Not sure what the more modern looking version is going for, but I prefer the styling of the slightly older one anyway.
