Taking Ownership of 1991 240SX

I've just took ownership of a S13 with 171,XXX. What are the things I should be lookng at replacing? Also the fastback developed rusts where the factory spoiler still sits. What can I do about it? Must I purchase a completely new fastback and, if so, are there any receommended source?

I took mine to a body shop to have it removed. They cut the rusted metal off and welded in new metal in to cover the wholes. As for replacing things, I guess you should check out the timing chain for rattles but just give her a good tune up for now unless there are obvious things that need attention. Drive the car around (to warm it up), park it and place a poster board under the car to check for leaks (rear main seal, transmission etc.). I'm going to take a wild guess and say your S13 is red....yes?





I've heard people say that the integrity of the hatch won't be the same. It may be true but think it came out pretty good. The holes are virtually gone. The guy sprayed the underside with rust proofer to protect it a bit more aswell.

congrats, buy a good condition used hatch, save yourself the trouble. or the local body shop will work, timing chain rattle.

i took off my spoiler and put some jDm tYte tape over the wholes

haha i just did that as a temporary fix...im getting it fixed along with new paint job in december...for free

I love the look of the OEM spoiler. Can anything be done in term of adding another spoiler that looks similar without getting the fastback damaged? Are all OEM 240SX spoilers doomed to the same fate?

No, its just that the spoiler in question is a foam lump. The others are hard plastic. I kinda like this one:http://www.sr20detperformance.com/
