the hardest ones for me were the 2 bottom ones closer to the end of the car. I had to go on the bottom and slowly take them off by unbolting them 1cm at a time. It takes patience.

it either takes a week or if you are a CA god like me, it takes 10 minutes. you just have to be content with moving the wrench 1/100th of a turn each time. slow and steady man, slow and steady!! by the way, the turbo oil lines are way the hell worse than any of those bolts when you go to put them back on. well, mine were anyway (i bent the crap out of them so i could use them on my gt28, since im too broke to buy stainless lines).

hehe I think I can do the whole thing within an hour. I have small hands maybe thats why its easier for me. Just try sticking your finger through there somehow, and if you're having trouble seeing it, get something bright on the nut so you can see it under the car, something like white out? i dont know.

you guys try taking the intake manifold off in the car. grrr so many stupid little bolts and stuck coolant hoses. I had to do that yesterday, put it all back together and the brand new gasket was leaking coolant. so I got to do it again, but with lots of rtv on the gasket. stupid car.

those 2 nuts were the worst.

If you have a ratchet spanner with flexi-head... makes life so much easier whilst removal!

actually the intake manifold was MUCH easier for me. I was so amazed when I took it off because of that.

I never had that much problem with it. IIRC, I used swivels and extentions and a socket wrench.

But, those two lower nuts were just a pain!! I figured its best to just have patience and I ended up using an open ended wrench as nothing else would fit . Little at a time.

Can anyone post pictures of what tools you used to remove them?? Also, C-rad, where'd you get your wratcheting swivel head?? I was thinking of picking up a set in the next few days.

haha shaddup. I have big hands. I'm going to use that as my excuse. but the second time was alot easier. I pulled the alternator so I could just reach all the bottom bolts from the front. 10000000x faster.

I assumed that was a given.

I pulled the brackets, alternator, oil filter, and starter.

Here's a set of ratcheting wrenches from home depot. I picked up a set of Gearwrenches from Sears for 80 bucks. Sounds kinda pricey but well worth the money.

Hmmm, not bad. The problem I had with my ratchet head/open ended wrench was that the head was too big to fit in the space and slip over the bolt. If it was, man would it have saved me a bunch of time..........It seem to end up hitting the turbo (the two bolts under the mani closest to the firewall).

Did you have that problem anumeric or C-rad or anyone??

I have the ssauto manifold. And to tell you the truth... it literally takes me 10 mins to get it off. Last two bolts on the end are still kind of pain, but I just reach my arm down there and throw the box end on it.

Holy crap. I just realized we're talking about the exhaust mani, not the intake mani.

Yea, I'm with Chris. I've got the SSAC mani and it's a breeze to get off.

the answer is open ended ratcheting wrenches.... theyre made by 'all american' or something, you can pick them up at napa. PERFECT for the bolts you wouldnt be able to fit a normal racheting wrench, or a socket onto

you cant go using them to break a bolt free or anything, but once its broken free, theyre a huge time saver (and the ratchet has decent increments, its basically one side of the open ended wrench just slips over the corner as you turn, but holds it firm the other way

ive never seen them anywhere except at napa

or you could just gring down a box ended wrench to make it fit, it worked on my freinds SR, and i know that both manifolds are equally stupid to take off lol

If you're like me and you like to play with crap, and have had your turbo off multiple times, the SSAC mani is a must. If this is the last turbo you plan to put on there, then leave it stock.
