Here is my question. I have a 98 ka at the moment. I am switching from nitrous to a turbo set up this spring. My gf found a 93 coupe for a very low price. Only thing I dont like is the fact that is is an auto but I can change that. I am wondering if I take my HS header off the 98, can I fit it to the s13? The flanges are the same or not? I searched but came up with nothing and I never looked in a s13 engine bay that had a KA. I figured the flange at the head will be the same and possibly the one at the dummy cat, but what about clearance issues since it is the one peice design? Thanks in advance

No, the s13 and s14 headers are not interchangeable

are you sure? I'm pretty sure that the S13 and S14 KAs are the same except for the emissions changes... I know for sure that you can use a S13 head on a S14 or vice versa... I dont see why a header wouldnt work on either engine. Also, when you buy flanges, there are never different ones for the S14 and S13 KAs... theres only one. I would bet that the header would work on both engiens

If so then how come every header company sells 91-94 headers and 95-98 headers. they would just sell 91-98 headers if you could use them for both. i remember hearing something about the new versions having something on the driver side of the engine bay that hits the headers on the ka24e headers, or vice versa

Since they practically the same motor...I'd probably say it's a room issue. The S13 (89) engine bay...looks a little more packed in than the S14. Either that, or it's the angles I'm looking at.

The flange on the end for the exhaust can be removed....I have a welder. Just really concerned about the space. I know that the emissions stuff will be a bit different and maybe the exhaust flange. I just hate to let a good header sit in a garage. I paid all that money for it before I decided to turbo my car so if I can make it fit on the s13 then thats one less thing I have to buy for it :)

itll fit, you will just have to customize the part where the downpipe fits to the cat.

I have a S14 header on my 93 RMS13 with a 92 motor in it, dependant on emission testing in your state, it bolted up just fine, but the egr tube will not fit giving you two options plug both EGR tubes like I did or find a EGR tube from a S14 to match up with the header
