Hey there.

I'm 17, and I'm hopefully buying my first car ('93 S13) so I wanted to know if it's acceptable to take a modified car to the mechanic for inspection before buying.

Thanks!

Yeah, you just might want to take it to someone that knows what they would be looking for. All mechanics are not created equal ha.
Do you know what modifications the car has?

Alright good to know, just needed to make sure. Thank you!

Yeah, it has coils, a catback and a Silvia front end swap. Other than that I'm pretty sure it's stock. $3500

Also, it does have a medium-sized rust hole in the frame rails which I know is bad news, would hiring labor to replace/weld repair it be logical? Or should I just try to find another 240? Been searching around forums and I've been seeing mixed answers.

I would say it warrants a very thorough inspection for rust. If nothing else is found, just weld it up.
