yes, this is ANOTHER "car starting trouble" kind of threads.

here's what happens: engine turns over but it takes forever. starter's good. battery's good. fuel good. spark good. i cleaned the iacv a couple months ago. no air leaks.

when turning over, it takes about 10 seconds before the motor starts. i have to feather the gas a little though, and when it does start, it starts slow and faint, and then picks up to 800ish.

i had this problem several months ago, then it went away, and came back recently, only happening every now and then. maybe one in fifty starts?

i'm not savvy on the electronics of a car, so i don't know what to trouble-shoot on that side of things.

what should i check for? i haven't adjusted or changed any of the car's sensors yet.

Personally I would start with timing. Advanced starts hard, and retarded starts easy.

my car usually starts up just fine... if the timing's off, why isn't it always hard to start? just luck-of-the-draw?

coolant temp sensor?

Does this happen all the time, even after it's been running for a while and you restart it like 5 minutes after you shut it down?

Coolant temp sensor will throw a check engine, and run rough. It might be fuel, sure you might still have it but it could be leaking back to the tank. Try having the key on the "on position" for 15sec or turn it to the "on position"about three times (you are priming the fuel pump doing this). And if it fires up right away after that BINGO!! ....Fuel issue. Mine does this too only when I haven't driving it in a while or when its really cold.
