The air boxes on the Q50 and Q70 are different. The attached pics are from a 2014 Q50 Premium RWD and a 2015 Q70 Premium RWD. The air diversion panels are also different.

The OP images aren't real good because the top one doesn't really show the position of the throttle body. Looking at these images, I think these intakes will work fine on a 3.7L Q70/M37. The setup of the stock boxes, etc. is irrelevant, IMO, since you're removing everything. All you need to worry about is will the Takeda intake tubing connect to the TB at the proper angle and put the filter in the right spot...and based on that, it will.

Looks damn near identical to me.

I would consider buying it once you're ready.

The setup of the stock boxes is not irrelevant. The design of these intakes utilizes half of the stock boxes and is intended to work with the stock air diversion panels in place. The Q50 air box has a front half and a back half that clamp together. The Q70 has two clamps that allow the filter to drop in from the top. I'm not sure if the M37 design is the same or not.

That's not what the product photos show or what I've seen other similar looking intakes look like in the engine bay. If I was installing this, I'd remove all the stock stuff.

It looks like you could remove the half air box part but then what would be the point? You can use any short ram intake for a VQ37VHR if you wanted.

My understanding is you would leave that half box but you'd remove all of the OEM boxes and crap...so this would allow 'directional' air flow meaning it would generally only suck in what is in front of the filter (IE cold air) and now what's to the side or behind it (hot engine air). Am I crazy?

Here are some real world examples of what I'm trying to describe...notice all of the OEM stuff is gone in these pictures and it's just the CAI + a shield of sorts (in this case the black plastic piece with Takeda on it).

You guys are missing the point I'm trying to make. You don't NEED it to attach to anything. Look at the pics above, it's the same thing. You just remove the OEM stuff, plop that intake in there (which will line-up/install just fine) and then leave the scoop part (if you wish) of the OEM stuff in place so it forces fresh air into that general area and you're done. Worst case you're getting 85% of the cold air you'd get if you installed the same intake in a Q50 and bolted it up to it's stock box.

So whether or not this actually fits the Y51 as opposed to the Q50 is irrelevant. That is my point. This filter WILL work on a Y51 3.7L motor. It won't be as the manufacturer intended and it won't technically be 'supported', but it will work just fine.

I understand the points of both k67p67 and Ilya, but this intake is designed to be used with the original air duct in the Q50. Therefore it will not install as intended in the Q70/M37 because as shown in the above pics the attaching points are different (look at the tabs) in the Q70 duct.

It COULD be installed without using the duct, but in that case it would make more sense to use an intake designed to be installed without the duct.

So, to answer Beachbum, no it won't bolt up like it does the Q50. I would suggest the standard 370Z/G37 Takedas, I have them in my M and they have worked flawlessly for me.
