Just got back from Takeda for a test fit of there Takeda Short Air Intake System and the Versa now has a Short Air System available for those looking in that direction.

What are the advantages on the short ram air vs. the longer cold air intake?

well if you were some how able to channel the air from grill to filter of the intake you could see some nice gains...

Here is the results of a Dyno run with the Cube which has the same Engine/Trans combinations.

If the Customer is afraid of sucking in water through the CAI which sits lower in the front fender.

So if you have the combination of the DC Cat-Back and the Takeda Short Air you would add around eleven pounds of tq and ten hp to a stock Versa.

I just ordered this intake, there is no tangible hp gain from a cai, plus the added comfort in knowing you will not hydrolock your MR.

A CAI can be better performing because the air is coming in real low and far from the engine. This makes the intake air much cooler than the surrounding engine bay and as we all know, cooler air is more dense, denser air is more easily crammed into a cylinder and more air detected by the O2 sensor means more fuel = MORE POWER!

But, there is a con to CAI.....

HYDROLOCK

Serious damage can occur from a CAI if driving in very heavy rain or through deep puddles where as a Short Air Intake isnt prone to this because the intake is generally much higher and out of the way of possible water ingestion.

Even cavorting in puddles can causes splashes that can get sucked into the CAI causing damage

Of course, the SAI wont suck fresh cold air, but you dont run the risk of:

Both definatley increase airflow...your choice!

One more to scare you!

the hydro lock nonsense is overdone for the most part. unless you are driving through some monster puddles i don't think you'll be in much danger. its tucked away in the fender pretty well. just don't submerge your bumper in water...simple enough.

On my old nissan I dynoed a short ram and a cai, the short ram gave more power. it does suck warmer air but 2 feet less pipe and remeber one 90 degree bend is equal to 3 extra feet of pipe!

I bought it from versaspeed. The pics taken by my gf when I installed are not very clear. I will take some and upload.Since this SAI is designed for versa, it was very easy to install and the intake fits the space pretty well.

Well I asked Bob from Versaspeed and he said it wouldn't because the rubber tube that goes from the intake to the airflow sensor assembly is larger on the 1.8l. So I ordered the AEM cold air intake because it uses the versa's tube so we'll see how that goes.

I would also like to know if this is CARB certified? I would most likely buy one if it is.

Also, will it fit if you've got a front strut bar in there? Looks like it might be tight...

CARB- no. Only AEM system is CARB certified.

Strut bar - yes.
