97 Pathy 4x4 stick
I need to change the headgaskets meaning lots of work but doable ( I'm burning up water)
I will also need to change the clutch soon and might as well get the transmission rebuilt (new bearings, synchros, seals etc at my local friendly shop) I would not rebuild the trans by myself as I have no special tools or that kind of knowledge
should I
(A) treat each of those things as a separate job and just do the headhaskets and than take it to the shop for trans/clutch
OR
(B) >>>> Take out the whole engine/trans in one piece <<<<<
separate them once it's out
take the trans to the shop to be rebuilt
do the head gaskets on the engine when it's out of the car = much easier access to things
put it all together with new clutch
put the whole thing back in as one piece
I'm looking for pros and cons of "Plan (B)"
(yes I would get some kinda hoist I guess and some help from a friend with more upper body strength)
so what's the method of removing the whole engine/trans in one piece
-down thru the bottom (remove front axle ???)
- thru the front (remove radiator, air con radiator, grill, bumper etc ???)
- from the top and tilting ( is that even possible ??? just brainstorming...)
or is that too much work period and just stick to "plan (A)" ?????
I need to get this thing going and save as much money as possible
ADVICE nissanheads PLEASE !!!!!!
thanks
