I don't know who that is.

But I'm looking into making the trip. So are my folks. My much-less-than-liberal uncle (he's a lawyer at the Department of Homeland Security, and prior to that was an environmental lawyer for Chevron-Texaco) lives nearby, so we might take the opportunity to make a weekend of it and visit him, too.

My parents were joking at all the reasons he'd be thrilled with our trip: our plan to go to a Jon Stewart rally, traveling on Shabbat...

Last night, The Daily Show was graced with the presence of The Big O!

Via Satellite, Oprah Winfrey called in to lend her support to Jon Stewart and his upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity. She told Jon and the audience:

"I think that we need a little bit more sanity in the world. I wanted to show my support for you, Jon, and also for your audience. So here's what I did: I had my staff sneak into your studio early this morning with a little gift."

That surprise was two tickets, plus air and hotel accommodations for everyone in his audience to attend the rally! Hooray!

We're jealous! It's going to be an amazing event!

P.S. - In response, Stephen Colbert said to Jon: "Your rally is supposed to be about sanity, but that was insane." Lols!

Oh, that's just swell. More rich people buying a crowd. Impressive stuff, uh huh.

But congratulations on caring enough to pay your own way to the rally. Let's hope the majority aren't paid to show up.

It's a good thing you're not going - you wouldn't fit in there.

See, much like the Tea Party, this "gathering" has no cohesive position or platform.

Besides, you'd be one of the few attendees with a higher education (and a job). The good news? There should be plenty of parking. ;)

I heard you could simply whip out the knee pads and prove you're worthy. :)

why do you think its gonna be in washington then? Its not a political movement, but rather an opportunity to pass out your resume to congressional and white house staffers :D

I'm really considering the trip. My girlfriend will be in Detroit at the time, so I've got the weekend free. My folks have said they're not going to go. But, if I do go, it'll be a great opportunity to meet up with some of the NICO'ers down there, and to catch up with my fraternity brothers (I pledged AEPi when I attended George Mason University). I'll probably go to the rally for an hour or so.

I have to say, though, in looking back at what I usually do when I go into big public gatherings... I get bored and wander away. Which isn't so bad when the Smithsonian is so close.
