Just noticed this recently and there are 2 S shaped metal rods that hold it up but nothing on the ends of the rods that hold it tight. Is this normal?

As you can see in the pic it is pretty rusty, time for a new one?
Thanks

Oh crap, found the issue. Obviously rusted all the way through and no longer connected at all.

Any thoughts on what this will cost to fix?

The vehicle is actually running well at this point and that does not seem right.

Most break there. New muffler and tailpipe should not run more than $250-275 depending on what you get. Went with a Magnaflow muffler and left the resonator off. Various people on this site have paid less and some have paid more. Get a few quotes and recommendations from different shops.

Not sure where you are, but I had a similar issue a few years back. I took it to a local small chain (Lou's Custom Exhaust-Shops In New England). They did an excellent repair w/a year warranty. Cost ~100$.

Thanks for the replies. I am near Dallas and a local guy has quoted me 80$ which seems like a pretty good deal to me.
