So this has been bugging me since I bought my truck. The trim around the taillights on my pathfinder is this red color that doesn't match anything else on the vehicle:

I'm wondering if anyone has painted theirs? (Just the trim that is) I'm probably going to take them off and make them black, and I'm just looking for some tips. Ie: What type of paint I should use, do I need to sand / prime, how much (if any) clear coat I should use.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

id do a light scuffing so the paint has something to adhere to

Ok, thanks! I'm probably going to get started on it tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.

Or you can use a can of adhesion promoter and spray it on before you spray the paint on.
Here's mine (not current):

I just used some Duplicolor black spray paint for outdoors plastics, and clear. Two or three coats black, three coats clear. Though the clear has worn off now, so it's matte. Still looks pretty good.
