Can anyone tell me how to replace a taillight? The owner's manual is not helpful at all.And even my dad, who has worked on cars for 40 years can't figure it out. There is a little 2 inch whole that you can barely fit a screwdriver through let alone get your fingers into.

I really don't want to go to the dealership and pay a buttload of money for a stupid lightbulb.

If I recall correctly, the Versa hatchbacks require quite a bit of rear interior panel removal to get to the taillight. I believe the service manual actually calls for removal of the back seat to be able to get all the panels out so you can access the taillight. I would highly recommend replacing all the bulbs if you are going to do this yourself.

It's really not that bad... remove the two small panels behind each taillight, and use a 10mm deep socket to loosen the nuts, but be sure to not let the nut fall out of the socket!! I used this method to replace the bulbs in my hatchback Versa, it works... just be patient, take it slow, and dont drop the nut!!!

Thanks!Yeah, we thought it was going to require removing some panels.Just didn't have time (or the bulb) when we noticed the light was out.

I'll let dad know. He's gonna love that. He couldn't believe that they would make it that hard.

Yeah, its not bad.

You can follow this for removal:http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=255365

Also I found out that the replacement of the taillight bulb was covered under warranty, they did it completely free (that was when I was under 36k miles though).

Just as Mr. Bishop described. No need to take out any panels except those two small access tabs. First time I did it I had to give the tail lense a pretty good tug to get it off as there was some double sided tape under the corner.

When my taillight was out, I brought it to the dealer. They replaced the bulb at no charge.
