Well I was installing 2 more rear aux lights and went to open my tailgate and the alarm went off. My tailgate isn't responding to the keyless or the switches. I haven't taken it apart yet but wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue or might know what the possibilities are. TIA!

When you were installing the lights, perhaps a short/open circuit (depending on the door sensor switch) occurred in the rear hatch pressure switch. I know if the electrical system detects the rear hatch is open, it will not lock. I would check the wiring around the door pressure switch.

I tried leaving tailgate open, glass hatch open, and both open. In any case, if I use keyless control to lock, it will lock. When I leave only the glass hatch open and remote lock the doors, all door will lock but the alarm will not turn on until the hatch is closed. I can tell that from the alarm LED indicator.

It's pretty easy to pull the interior panel and have a look at what's going on.

Yeah it is, I've done it a few times. Well after some discovery I've narrowed it down to the tailgate won't lock with the keyless but will unlock with it. I'm guessing it thinks the door is open. What is the pressure switch and where inside the panel is it located?

Thanks!

Does it lock both the rear side doors? If yes, it's not the back door switch becausethe two rear side door swtches and the back door switch are all wired in parallel.

Does it lock the RH rear side door, but not the LH rear side door and back door? The actuator for the LH rear side door and the actuator for the back door arewired in parallel.

The back door actuator doesn't have any special wiring for lock vs. unlock, soit's not a wiring problem.

I'd put a volt meter across the back door actuator and see if it[s pulsed whenyou send a lock signal. And also try just putting a finger on it (be careful)when sending a lock signal.

If you apply +12 to Pin 1 of the actuator, and ground to pin 2, it should lock.

See the FSM. On my '01 PF FSM, it's about page EL-250.

Happy Holidays!

Also, the '01 PF FSM doesn't say anything about sensing whether the backwindow is open.

I found that the rubber cargo mat I have can prevent the door from locking if it's slid too far forward. Move it back and try again.

The door closes and I can lock it with my key in the hatch keyhole.

Problem is my fob doesnt affect the trunk lock/unlock and my car thinks the back door is always open...

Im assuming its electrical

Check the relays in the engine bay for the alarm, then work towards the door.
