Tailgate flexion broke left tailight

I had a weird issue while manually closing my tailgate (I have a 2019 Rogue S without power liftgate). The handle crease is on the right side of tailgate bottom, and I was closing it while standing in the middle. It created some kind of flexion in the hatch struts, resulting in a wrong closing path, and the left bottom corner of the liftgate just hit and cracked the LH outer tailight assembly. Did that ever happened to anyone? I was wondering if it could be a warranty covered issue. Thanks!

AFAIK you're the first to post about this.

Could it be a warranty covered issue? Only if you can recreate it and prove it's a manufacturer flaw/defect, AND other people will need to report the same issue. As it stands, they'll probably deny it's a design flaw and chalk it up to user misuse and deny any warranty claim.
