Pulled my tail pipe out of my 2003 pathfinder yesterday. It was hanging low and i just jiggled it and it fell out. its the stock muffler and exhaust but only a year old. I don't know why it but its completely rusted out and it pulled out like half of the inside of the muffler to. so currently I'm driving around with a big hole in the muffler. Im looking to get like a flow master muffler or something but not any further back towards the resonator. Any suggestions?????

i have a flowmaster on my pathfinder also, i removed everything from the cats back (took out the resonators and all parts of the stock exhaust), and just have the flowmaster muffler in place where the stock one was and a nice chrome tip to finish it off

sounds awesome and runs well

Thx and what flow master do you have because I saw some people on here have different ones that say there's is the best. And did you see an increase in fuel economy or engine proformance when you added it.

i really did not see much of an increase in fuel economy and performance (but maybe if it was checked with the computer, you can tell if anything improved), it just sounded a loud better. I have no clue what flow-master i have, Ive been trying to figure that out for a long time, when i search the numbers that are provided on the actual exhaust, it doesn't tell me what model the flowmaster is.

ok thanks you said you put in the flow master and then took out the muffler silencer in the back near the tail pipe. thats actually where the tail pipe fell out of so I'm thinking of just taking the silencer off since it has a hole in it where the tail pipe use to be so its doing me no good right now and sounds pretty good. but I'm not going to leave it the way it is because the hole is smaller than the can and the air isn't necessarily funneled out of it, at higher rpm's it sounds like a really loud fan blowing air through a hole. so since you have a straight pipe from the flow master back, how and where did you put the tail pipe? I know that you can get the muffler silencer online that includes the tailpipe and the bend where it goes over the axle but can you get that same piece with out the silencer?

Thanks,

On SUV's in the past we have had good success with the 80 series. They are not overly aggressive but have a good sound to them. If you want more aggressive the 40 series will certainly provide it but sometimes on v6's I often feel its too raspy. They sound great however on my lt1 camaro.

On exhaust projects in the past I have found that working with a local exhaust shop can be cheaper and the way to go in the end. This because they can simply bend or make everything needed on the spot where we have to basically piece to together pieces and either weld or clamp them all together. For me after I priced everything out it came out less expensive to just provide the shop with my chosen muffler (and cat in my case) and have them weld it up. It looked much cleaner in the end as well and the shop had a perfect chrome tip to match.

Just a thought....

yeah from my cats to the back are all straight pipe, you can get the intermediate pipes online for around $80 for the two (this replaces the resonators) and as for the tail pipe i had the shop weld in pipe to the same area where the stock tailpipe was, and added a chrome tip to it
