Why would my tail lights not go off even with the car off, the key out of the egnition, and all doors closed?

It's the switch that is pressed when you hit the brakes, it's what turns on the taillights.
It'd be a good idea to get under there and check it out.

At your brake pedal.
Inside the car.

Stick your head down where the pedals are and look up under the dash. ON top of the brake pedal's shaft there is a switch.

You should know that you are in the wrong forum.

I'm pretty sure he's done that, dusred.
Unless he only checks out his taillights while inside the car...with his foot on the pedal... :gotme

Maybe you have parked in a manner which has the rear portion of your vehicle facing the sun creating the illusion that your lights are illuminated, in actuality they aren't.

Little rubber stop prob failed. Just go to any auto store and those plastic interior clips and plug it.

Yeah its a button over top of your brake pedal. When you let go of the pedal it presses the button and turns the lights off. If it came loose than your pedal may not be pushing it down all the way anymore. Mine is so old the button actually chewed a hole straight through my pedal and they were on for a week until i put a thick magnet over the hole that presses the button now while im off the pedal. Just look at the top of your brake pedal and push the little black button and have someone tell you if they go off. It's like a 10 min fix if thats your problem, just one wrench.

Same thing just happened recently to me. There's a little push on the pedal, and there's a stop mounted in the car and when the button is pushed it turns the lights off. If the stop fell out then you're lights will stay on. Good luck.
