3-4 coats of vht nightshades. Sanded with 1600 grit.

You can still see the red running lights well, and brake lights are not a problem either. I've never been pulled over for them over the past years and a half that i've had them painted. (btw brake lights are OFF in these pics)

Looks really good. I picked up 2 cans of vht nightshades and everything I need to do the project. Just gotta find the time to do it. Next couple weeks Im sure. I took a couple days off work around weekend of feb 12th cause its my anniversary. Now I just gotta talk my wife into letting me get some stuff done around the garage instead of spending the whole weekend away. lol

I used 1 can of VHT nightshades with about three coats, no clear coat though. With no clear coat/ buff it gives it more a matte black look. I also did not know I had to sand it down? Oh well it's held up for about 1 year & 1/2, I think it's getting a lil bit lighter with all the car washes/ waxing/ sun exposure. Oh yeah and I used some blue masking tape to gtr style it and reverse lights.

i have a 04 infiniti g35 coupe and it had smoked out tail lights.. my car got hit by a truck at my job and when they fixed the car they gave me 2 brand new tail lights instead of painting the 1 (grrrrr)... i want to spray them again but this time i want the reverse light not sprayed ( my reverse light is also a circle).. was it hard to mask it out and make sure its even?

ohh and btw guys if your worried about the spray fading dont i believe mine were painted w the vht spray and they lasted 5 yrs n prob longer if my car wasnt hit and they didnt fade at all....

no it was really easy. Actually the inner diameter of a roll of duct tape is the perfect size for covering the reverse light. Just trace the inner diameter on a piece of cardboard and use some scotch double sided tape to hold it on.

I didn't sand myself. Used about 2 1/2 coats. It came out with a little red still showing but that's kinda how I wanted it.

Although it does look darker in person. That pic has the sun shining down on it, odd angle.

It's got a matted finish, fyi.
