Tail Light Modification

Hey everyone,I'm looking at changing my tail lights. I have a 2000 GXE. I hate those stupid red reflectors inside the lights. I was wondering if there was a way (once they are separated) to remove that piece. I'm hoping it will look more like the 2k2-2k3 SE tail lights at that point, if not I'm tempted to just paint everything but the light reflectors grey lustre. What do you guys think?
