Hi,

Someone hit my 1993 240SX convertible today. Nothing major, but it busted the right tail light cover. The tail light work fine. I just need that cover (for the right hand side).

Where would I find one?

Thanks, and have a Merry Christmas!

if your looking for a replacement taillight (?) then you could try the classifieds or ebay, maybe even your local craigs list or a junkyard.

Thanks for the responses.

I hope I don't have to end up getting that whole taillight. The actual part I hope I can find, is just that red part (the cover/protector).

It's as if I took a screwdriver and jammed it into the corner of the rear light. So everything works fine. There is just 3 inches of the red plastic missing from the cover/protector.

This forum is a great resource. I didn't think I'd get any responses for a few days. I checked ebay & googled the cover by different names, but no luck yet. I'll keep searching, but please post here if you run across one of these covers somewhere!

Thanks again!

I have several pairs of tail-lights back home but I won't get back til the end of the week. I'll let you know if the piece is removeable and get back to ya. Otherwise we may be able to work out a deal for one.

Could you take a pic of the part you need? If your talking about the tail light lens...they are made together...so I think you will need to replace the whole tail light. Post us a picture and we can tell you what you need a lot faster. Good luck.

Good idea, here it is:

You are right. It is the lens. A friend told me that it's so minor, I might be able to just find a 3-inch section of that red reflector lens, and crazy glue it on there. (Because the break was so clean and specific to just the red part of the lens.

ALSO: Sorry, I just realized that the Trading Post thread is THE FIRST POST ON THE BOARD! Oops.

Just get a new (used) taillight. It will be much easier and better looking to just replace the whole thing. They are typically around $20 - $30 used.

I just checked....the red part does look like it can be removed, but it's the whole red part that comes out. I think you'd be better off just buying another taillight. I hope the guy that hit you is paying for it?

Yeah, it will be a lot easier to just replace the whole light then just that part of the lens. Cause if you did just replace the lens you would: have to remove the broken one, buy another passenger side tail light, put both in a 200 degree oven to help release the glue holding the lenses on...remove the old broken lens and clean it up. Then remove the unbroken one....buy sealant and re-seal the lens back to the houseing....see....way too much trouble. Buy a new (used) tail light...remove the old one, install new one and your done. Here is one off eBay for $35 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V

Good luck!

By the way, I did end up buying this one, and installing it.

Thanks for all the help.

As a funny sidenote, 7 days later someone else hit me! On the driver-side between the door and the wheel. $2,100 to fix. The guy's insurance covered it. But it really put the $35 (to fix the first accident) in perspective.

Thanks again!
