Is it possible with minimul body work to swap tail ligts on a 240 (any year) with those of a skyline? yea i know the shape is different and it would require body work but im just lookn for how much and if u guys know of anyone who has done it (or attempted) direct me to em.

You can do it yourself if you were creative. With a little bit of fiberglass mats, kitty hair, bondo, and lots of hardener, you can do anything with the car. Oh yeah, it helps if you got sheet metal laying around.. I've done S2000, R34 Skyline, and IS300(altezza) tail light conversions on civics. Wasn't so hard. Just have to have the bravery to put a grinder to the original metal of the car to cut away at it. (cut too much and it will haunt you later when you try to fix it). All in all, I've done a great job at these conversions. The one I just finished, (s2000 on civic) is just getting primered and the guy will paint it later on in a few months when he comes up with the money. Looks great along with the wide body I installed for him.

Easiest near bolt on is R32 Skyline Tails onto an S13 Coupe.

You admittedly put R34 tails on a Civic? I hope you at least overcharged him for that.I have seen R32 tails on a hatch/180SX... honestly, it looked like hell. I have also seen R32 tails on a coupe/Silvia... honestly, it looked good, but not right. just kinda off, hard to describe.

Supra tail lights look great on a s14. :)

But..... If I was gonna Mod the back end of a s14 I'd get the JDM tail lights and modify it to where the middle piece was body colored. Did I word it right? I'll see if someone else did it so I can get a pic.

Edit: Kinda like this but you know... an s14. ;)

thanks for the info ppl. yea it would be nice to have the new supra lights on the back but that involves a little more body work than i want to get into. honestly, on a civic, dont they have enough ****ty aftermarket taillights now they gotta be stealing ours, damn. anyways i am hoping to get a s14, early 95 or 96 240 coupe as soon as one presents itself, (or get enough money saved to go search). Doing body work, or any work, wont be too much of a problem cuz my dad is a friggin genius with cars. im still learning so this would just be another lesson, or project. but anyways thanks. : )

Yeah, I charged 4 grand when I did it(excluding the price of lights). That was all work alone. For the S2K tail lights, I charged 2800, but should have been more because it was just as a ****** as the R34's. The full widebody I molded to the rest of his car made up for it though.

Wait.... you said it was easy.....

either you spent like 80 hours getting it to fit ( Making it not so easy) or he got reemed. I'm thinking it's the latter.

Bodywork is quick when you have it planned out and know what you are doing. You make less mistakes and use less materials, and in turn, use less time. Took me about 30hrs to have R34's in and primered, just had trouble locating a connector harness for them to work. S2k lights were much the same method. Just measure away and cut the car apart, make a custom housing using cardboard templates (planning remember?) and start putting everything together. Do some finishing touches after with fiberglass and bondo, then comes the finished product. All that is left is to assemble the wiring harness for the lights, primer the car, paint, and then slide in the tail lights. It all depends if you are willing enough to put enough elbow grease and common sense into it.

he asked a simple question, you are posting in the wrong forum. Dont run your mouth about people getting out of your thread, how would you like it if someone told you "get the fuk out of my forum" because you don't own a nissan? Exactly my point, use your head and post in the correct forum, that should be common sense to anyone who knows how to read.

Or you could live with what Nissan gave you, I personally like all S14 tails better than any aftermarket alterations.

hey now, not all S14 tail lights are created equal. The 97-98 ones are the shiznit over all! ... Or maybe my opinions a little biased. :pface

HAHAHA,first you tell me that im in the wrong forum and decide to add your 2 cents about me not owning a nissan (which i do, just not a 240) and then you go on to give your valued opinion. if your gonna tell me im in the wrong place and be pissy then do it. but dont post your opinion later on the subject because, remember, its in the wrong place.

Your right I do prefer the 97-98 lights more, but they are both still good.

I dont understand why alot of people swap the headlights with the 97-98 ones but noth the tail lights, the tail lights look 10 times better than the 95-96 versions.

True. I like the silvia ones even more but they're hard to come by on this side of the pond. :(

guys, seriously, why don't you both just shut the hell up and quit *****in'? :)

i do like the factory look, but i just think that the kandy would look a lot better. it also may depend on the color too.

ItzGenX - since this is a tail light conversion thread I figured I'd ask you a question about this thing that I thought would be cool.

The middle tail light removal.... or "two tail light conversion" say I got the 97-98 kouki tail lights and like it but thought it'd look better seperated? (which I do) How would I go about it?

I was thinking removing the lights from the center piece, grinding the center piece down 1/4 of an inch or so so it's inset ever so slightly and putting a thin layer of bondo over it and then painting it. would this work or would I have to weld a piece of metal in the middle where the light went?

I'm gonna take some auto classes come fall (as I know a fraction of what a 19 year old should know) and if it isn't too hard I figure I can add body repiar to the list. But if you don't think it'll turn out perfect I won't waste my time. Please advise. :)

The easiest way is getting a vinyl sticker/sheet and cut it exactly the shape of the middle piece. Then cut out the two squares or rectangles so that the reverse lights will show. Place over it nice and neatly and paint over it. The HARD way is making custom molds out of fiberglass using the original middle piece as a template or you can trace it out and use cardboard as a template. Either way, you can easily make this center piece (not perfect). Now after you get it done, cut out two squares for your reverse lights (where ever you want them, but original spot is easier so you dont have to make mounting holes for it). Now you can cut the clear/white lense of the center piece out along with whatever else comes with it. Place them onto fiberglass holes you cut out and make a mark of how they seat and cover them up with tape to avoid scratching etc. Now mount this fiberglass piece onto the car. Any imperfections you see (will be nice and rough so its a lot) then you go by and whipe a nice and thick layer of bondo over. Avoid covering up the lenses =). After that its all sand paper and making it flush. The first way I mentioned is a whole lot easier.
