Having problems with my rear brake light sensor, so I was putting in new bulbs in my HIDs and all of a sudden after installing them, I noticed that the third brake light was staying on. When the lights were off and I tapped my brake, all my exterior lights would blink when I tapped on the pedal. So I decided to get a new tail light sensor and everything worked how it was supposed to - fixed the problem for about two months. A couple days ago, I noticed the rear lights were out once again, so I got another tail light sensor and now I have the same problem that I had in the beginning - the third brake light is still staying on and when I tap the brake the lights come on. Seems like certain green sensor's work over others. I ordered another one today. And I have one now that works but has the problem. When I went to try and take it out it was burning HOT. So hot I couldn't even grab it to take off. Clearly there getting hot now and just frying until they dont work anymore. And I have no Idea why. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I tired of worrying about getting pulled over cas my third brake light stays on, and buying these stupid little censors.

Have you checked all of your bulbs to make sure they are the correct ones? Also, maybe check the sockets and make sure you don't have a crossover short. I fixed a buddy's Maxima with brake light issue that the socket had heated up and was bleeding current across it. It actually melted the solder inside the socket. His brake lights would not go off, but other things can happen as well.

Also, you may want to unplug each section, one at a time (left, right, center) and see if the sensor stays cool. That will help narrow down the problem area.

Try putting the stock headlights back in. I'm not sure, but the HID's may be wired in a way that it's bridging the signal to turn the lights on and burning something out. I mean, if the problem started after HID install, that would be the first place I would look.
