Hi Guys,I am in Australia and have a 1990 JDM Q45 G50.Having issues with my tail lamps and hoped you guys could help. Now this is what happens, My right hand side unit does not allow its clearance lights to work. But the brake lights do (same bulbs). I have swapped bulbs side to side, no probs there.I have swapped the complete units side to side and the right hand side when plugged into the left hand side works fine. The left hand side when plugged into the right hand side exhibits the same problems. The connection has full continuity (checked with multimeter). What we found though, was when the harness was unplugged it had power every where it should. IE when we depressed the brakes it got power when we turned the indicator on it had power when we checked the clearance lights they too had power. However as soon as we connected the unit to the harness we lose power in the clearance lamps. Everything else is still fine. We checked the power from the harness side too so it is not the connector. We did this by by-passing the connector too and no matter what it would lose power in the clearance lamps.Connectors are fine as we checked continuity everywhere.

So I really have no idea what to do, can any of you guys help?I know she is a JDM, but maybe some you guys have had some similar experiences with your US vehicles.

Cheers

You may need a new harness. But honestly I don't know... thats just an educated guess.

Kind of sounds like you might need a new socket.. They are known to be kinda finnicky on Q.. Not too common, but I wouldnt rule it out. It almost sounds like its losing ground. Are you checking power with the sockets hooked up to body ground, or the ground through the harness?

If you're checking to body ground and still losing power thats pretty intense, i dont see how that could happen.. Reply back and I'll check my FSM. Do you have a wiring diagram?
