Tail Lamp problem!

ok here is the deal. When I throw on the headlamps, the tails light up normally. When I press the brake pedal, the driver's side brake light goes out and everything else is normal. Now here's where it get's really wierd, when I put it in reverse, ALL the lamps go out and only come on when I press the breaks.

My car was doing that off and on and sure enough when I brought it in for inspection it did it. My mechanic sprayed some contact cleaner on some of the parts in the tail lamp assembly, and I think there was a crossed wire back there, but it was all taken care of in 5 minutes while getting the inspection.

turns out the reverse lights don't work at all now...
