tail lamp inoperative

Coming home last night info screen displayed message "tail lamp inoperative."One bulb was burnt out... applied some contact cleaner before replacing with new bulb but the info display still showing message.

Have not check the FSM but will do today. Any thoughts what else to check.

Bulb must be OEM or Sylvania LL.

Check wiring and sockets for overheat damage.

Thanks Brian.I have the 1157LL Sylvannia bulb installed.

Found the problem...FSM EL-30 for tail/stop sensor check. With engine running checked the voltage at the 8 pos. connector. It registered 11 Volts below the recommended 12V.

Pulled out my spare brake sensor module. Installed it back in and walla...turned the light back on and the error message went away.
