ok after the help from martin and cyber we got it to turn over and all that fun stuff i also got the MAFS hooked up yipee.. well went out today cause my dad was setting up some of the other items to see if we could get it to start... welllll make a story short we think the pump is ****ed cause there is no oil going to the engine no oil being pumped to the filter and there is nothing happening in the pan area we have torn it down already *bottom end* and was wondering if there is a way to test the pump while it is in the car also what kind of pump will replace the SR20 pump thx

heres how i tested mine. I just had my friend crank while i covered the oil pickup hole with my hand. I felt for suction. I had the same problem, hardly any oil and my light was on all the time. After figuring out the pump worked. (actually its almost imposable for them to not work). I looked at the pan. it looked perfect, but the was a slight mark (kinda looked like molding) in the bottom of the pan that matched the oil pickup. So i beat the hell out of the pan untill it had a nice pocket/dip under where the oil pickup is. The weird thing is the pan looked perfect when i took it off, After so measuring i found that the pichup is only mm's from the pan. Any ways now it runs great. Honestly if you punched the oil pan on a stock sr20det just once, im sure it would be enough to kill the oil pressure

As long as theres oil on the dipstick you should get pressure. Pull the oil pan of just for the hell of it. Then beat it with a hammer in the center square, so there is a dip there. The oil pickup the the only thing you can see whent he pan is pulled. Im sure this is your problem. Think about it if the pump had went bad it would have spun a rod bearing or done some damage making the motor hard to turn, pluss they should not have sold it to you. It would not be worth there time. Just pull the pan, beat it, put it back on, add oil, and start the car. the light should go out in the first 4 seconds. Then your good. Im totally sure this is your problem. as for the type of oil, that wont make any diffrence. Oh there will be very little suction as the starter only cranks at lile 90rpm and the motor operates alot faster than that even under idle. Have you ever been in a car where you about stall it? Once the motor goes below 200rpm theres not even enough oil pressure to turn the oil light off. Its kinda the same thing. the starter just does not spin it fast enough. Hey IM me if ya need faster help at [email protected]or [email protected] for my normal email addy
