hello,

i need to hook my tachometer wire and coolant temp sensor wires up so they read on my gauge cluster because i am going to get a 180sx gauge cluster and need to know what to adjust go get it to read accuratley... i need to know which wires hook up to the gauge cluster and where the wires are to the gauge cluster so i can hook it up without tearing my dash apart. i need the wires for the tach and coolant temp sensor. i know the tach is a yellow/red wire but where to i hook it up to get the gauge to read?

thanks

tony

you should have gotten a skyline gauge cluster.

the tach isnt going to read right, and i doubt the coolant temp sensor will either.

I read somewhere here that the tach has something on the back that you can adjust to get it close to reading correctly. The coolant temp sensor will read wrong if you have rb sensor with the ka dash and vice versa. Throw in the 180 gauge, who knows what/if it will work. Worth a try and let us know about it.

I don't know first hand but I'm sure I've read it here.

my dad knows how to make the gauges read accuratley...you either have to adjust the signal coming in or how the gauge displays the signal....

i would appreciate any information on which wires the hook up to so i dont have to trace everything and take out my dash!

thanks

YELLOW/RED IS THE TACH IIRC AND THE WATER TEMP ONE I CAN'T REMEMBER BUT THAT ONE WORKS FINE AS LONG AS YOU USE THE KA SENSOR (IF YOU USE THE RB ONE IT READS ALITTLE HIGH).

Measure the resistance across the KA tach's signal resistor(s) and then measure the resistance across the RB's tach signal resistor(s). Then you will either have to replace the resistor(s) for the KA with the equal of the RB's, or wire in a (maybe more than one depending on the RB's actual resistance and what resistors are available).

In theory (I will be doing this in the next three months), since the 4 cyl is receiving a different PPR value (pulse per rev) than the 6cyl signal is sending, the change in resistance should make it read correctly.

This is what I will be working on soon. If you figure it out first, let me/us know. This is my "theory" on how to fix the tach problem...

or just swap in the ka water temp sensor, should go right in.also the wire colour for the temp sensor is blue/black.

thanks i got it working now....all i have to do is swap the ka water temp sensor over and get my tach to read right...it reads 1.5 times higher than it should BTW because its a 6cyl over 4cyl.
