Hey guys, i am new and i have been a fan of your site for a long, long time. I have basically disassembled my q 45 and i have used this great site for help alot.

My tachometer is messing up. Sometimes it works, particularly when cold, i think this is because colder weather permits better current conductivity. But when not working correctly the tach will slowly rotate clock wise until it reaches the 8,000 rev/min mark, then stop. The tach always returns to zero when i cut it off. Any ideas of the problem? Also everything else in instrument cluster works fine.

if your elecrical 'bus' voltage is at 14.0 then i'd guess your tach is messed. happened on the u13, fortunately whilst still under warranty, tach was replaced, problem went away. suggest looking for a partout and snag the cluster.

Okay, imma take my cluster out again and check some voltages, thanks GQ Jay for the input.

Does anyone know what the current in the inputs or circuits are supposed to be? Imma take some pics of the back and front of the cluster and post them up.

The diagram just shows three [3] terminals on the tach................+12, ground, and ecu signal.

Experience has shown you just replace the unit.

does anyone know how to remove the bottom panel under the steering column, i got the cluster out, but am having trouble putting the surrounding cover back on. I dont want to break it. It would be a lot easier if i could drop the steering column.
