Tachometer Qi just got a 95' 240sx from some private seller. the miltage is about 11kand it runs pretty well. but the tachometer is a bit crazy. when i hit thegas with normal pressure (gradually accelerating...), it would reach 4,000or 5,000 rpm. if i hit it hard, it would reach the red zone quickly... andthe sound of the engine is large. then it would go back between 5,000 and 6,000rpm. (and it reads around 4,000rpm when at parking shift) is thissituation normal for a 95 240sx?:thinker :thinker  :help

So what your saying is, when you floor it, the engine revs a lot higher and you don't get going much faster? Btw a 95 240 w/ 11k miles is nearly impossible. Try to go into more detail.

I'm thinkin it was prolly a typo, maybe 110k? And if you mash the gas and it revvs up and you don't move, then it catchs up, your transmission is slipping. Also what do you mean by it being at 4k rpm when you're parking shift..are you saying when it's in park, your engine idle's at 4k? It should be at around 750-1k.
