Tachometer problem

I got a new gauge cluster because my previous one had a broken speedometer and the tach did not work. The speedometer works now, but the tach doesnt. I ran a new wire from the ECU to the cluster to see if the problem was a bad connection, but the tachometer still does not work. Anyone have any Ideas as to what I should check next? My car is an 89.

try using a 91 tach or the jdm one
