Would like to add a tachometer to my non-tach dash. Has anyone done this, and what needs to be installed/purchased?

Am also looking to install the clock as well, does anyone have an extra set they would be willing to part with?

That guy needs to edit his post as it will not fit an 86 as it is a completely different cluster style.

It's the wrong cluster, but it's the right idea. All you need to do is go to your local junkyard or craigslist and find a stock cluster and slap the sucker in. It should be pre-wired behind the dash for the tach and the clock that was also optional in the later years.

That's what I was hoping, just a plug-n-play. Sometimes they don't come pre-wired from the factory, becomes a pain!

my dash is out rite now and it has a couple extra plugs coming out of the cluster harness so my guess is that you can just throw the other one in..

Hate to bring this back from the dead but I just picked up a cluster with a tach and clock. I already swapped the tach and clock into my cluster to avoid dealing with the mileage difference but I was going to slap it in the truck and... I cannot find a connector for the clock. I see the connector for the tach but no clock connector, any ideas?

While we're talking wiring, I've got two single wire connectors on either side of the dash, currently they are not plugged in. What are these? Yellow with red dots if I remember.

Grabbed some pics to show you guys what I'm dealing with.

Here is the wiring behind the dash. I don't see the green connector for the clock anywhere.

And here is the yellow w/ red dots under the driver side of the dash

And here is what is on the passengers side. The one connector is ONE wire, the other is TWO. It looks like the one wire connector could fit into the two wire connector on either pin.

And finally, I noticed this while grabbing the last pic, under the center of the dash. Two two-wire connectors not plugged into anything. Are these for option guages in the console?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I found the clock connector. It was tucked deep behind the dash panel. I finally saw it when I had my head down by the pedals looking up.
