I checked the yellow and red wire that is suppused to make the tach work and is in the right place. Right now my tach isnt working. Other things that i need to check?

what year of car do you have? 89-90 have a sohc motor so when u do the swap to the sr u have to change out the tach to read ur dohc motor. you can use the jdm tach or the ka24de tach, also i think u could just take out the tach from the cluster instead replacing the whole cluster or whatevers easier for u. i also have a problem with coolant temp too, it goes past hot just as soon as turn the ignition on or the car on. im still trying to figure out this one, i already tried to bleed the cooling system to see if it was just air but that didnt work, unless i didnt do it right. r u having the same problem with ur temp gauge?

the temp sensor on the motor needs to match the chassis year of the car. So say you but an S14 motor in your S13, the temp gauge will not read correctly. Same goes for S13 motor into an S14 car.

For the latter scenario, I watched the gauge peg out almost immediately on startup.

My car is a s13 1992 and i swapped to a sr20det s13 blacktop. I'm not having problems with overheating, the car is runnung perfect. The only things that arent working are tach and temp gauges.

did you do the wiring yourself for the car, or did someone else? there's a wire under the dash that needs to be altered for the tach signal to make it to the cluster. I believe it's the yellow/red wire leading from the ECU plug to the white dash plug connector. Also, the temp gauge wire which is Blue/Black also is in that group as well.

i think i know whats wrong, this happened to me and it may be the same case with ur car, if u havent fixed it already..... u know how u have to connect the ka dash (cluster) wires to sr harness by the ecu under the dash by the ecu, well if u look at the connector where the blue/black wire and the yellow/red wire are (right next to each other) on one side, then u look at the other side of the connector where the the blue/black wire and the yellow/red wire are supposed to come out of, their crossed with one an other( the blue/black is supposed to be where the yellow/red is. vise versa) this is what was wrong with mine. hopefully youll get yours runnig right.

oh forgot to mention that th blue/black wire is your water temp and your yellow/red is your tachometer.
