Tach / Turbo Timer problem (Yes, I searched)

I'm having a little bit of trouble getting my turbo timer to work correctly......the timer is an HK$ type 1.

The tach function is working, but not correctly. It reads the same value as my stock 240 tach, which isn't calibrated. I read that pin 7 is the tach signal so that is the wire I spliced in to. Has anybody else had this problem or does anyone happen to know what I did wrong?

So I looked at the wiring a bit more but couldn't come up with anything. The timer says I'm idling at 1700 and I don't build full boost until around 5300. Could the fact that the timer is sharing the tach wire with the stock tach cause my problem?
